C-Extensions

The ability to play the lowest pitches in the standard orchestral repertoire has increasingly become a professional expectation. Accordingly C-Extensions have grown more and more popular as a means to achieve those lowest of low notes…especially if a 5-String bass is not a reality for whatever reason.

Benjamin Joella has fitted dozens upon dozens of C-Extensions over the past 25 years and has settled on a design that is flawlessly functional as well as fully adjustable.  Each capo, as well as the c-nut, is fully intonatable so when you change strings or string height, you can easily re-intonate your c-extension for your new setup.  Fully chromatic C-Extensions (capos for C#, D, D# and E) can be installed on most basses for $1800 including a new long E string of your choosing.
